In the history of the Church we find different ways of living the faith, in that constant path the Church itself encounters new expressions of Faith that do not necessarily follow the rigor of what is already prescribed by the same Church. This doesn´t mean that they go against it, but rather that, in the historical journey of the magisterium, it has been understood that these are expressions of God who lives and walks in the midst of his people. The magisterium has tried to reflect and respond to these new revelations. Specifically, in the history of the Church in Latin America, this topic has been reflected upon to shed light on these popular expressions of faith. In this paper we start from a general reflection of positive assessment of popular religiosity and we present an extract of what the general conferences of Celam have expressed regarding popular religiosity or related terms.
