Abstract

The present work has the objective of illustrating through parables the challenges that plurality has in psychoanalysis, as well as the opportunities and risks that the different theoretical-clinical positions that exist in psychoanalytic knowledge entail. In this sense, he makes use of the parables of “The Tower of Babel” and “The blind man and the elephant”, as well as the positions of authors such as Christopher Bollas and Luis Hornstein to show the importance of plurality, dialogue, the intersubjective encounter and interdisciplinary bridges in the development of psychoanalysis. The paper concludes on the importance of considering that psychoanalysis is not only limited to the clinical aspect, but also interferes in the social and cultural field in terms of ethics and responsibility for pain, vulnerability and dependence on the other in the relational field. From this place, psychoanalytic arguments can have an impact on situations such as violence, discrimination, migration, disappearances, drug trafficking and other social ills that are inscribed in our contemporary world.
