Abstract

In this article, the re-elaboration of the figure of the witness in two lives is identified with the miraculous episode of Menologio franciscano by Fray Agustín de Vetancurt. To do this, the writing model that underlies the writing of this text is reviewed. Some of its sources and its respective process of re-elaboration in miraculous lives of Franciscan religious are pointed out.

With this, the role of the protest that appears in Menologio is highlighted, which provides writing guidelines for its author. In this way, four cases are analyzed in which the figure of the witness participates in particular. It is intended to estimate that such reformulation task implies the achievement of a writing model that is developed based on protest.
