The professional identity of the nutritionist
Keywords:
consciousness, nutrition, university educationAbstract
Identity refers to the awareness that the person has of being himself and different from others. By assuming one, the subject knows and recognizes himself particular and autonomous and, at the same time, places himself in front of others from his self different from the other self; the question who am I is answered.
In this sense, the professional identity of the nutritionist is a construction process that goes from the beginning of their training and continues throughout their working, individual and social life, and that requires personal and collective reflection to be aware of what we are and what role we play in society.
It is concluded that some of the elements that make up the construction of the nutritionist's professional identity are: what he does, how he does it, what his curriculum is, what professions those who train them have, if they belong to groups of nutritionists or nutrition students, how they conceptualize themselves, how they are seen by other professionals with whom they interact as doctors, psychologists or nurses and what role and appreciation they have in the society in which they live.
